At 5892m, Hanuman Tibba is the highest peak in the Beas Kund crown of 5 peaks. The approach takes you through oak and silver birch forest, up to the dry grasslands of Beas Kund, where we set up base camp at the foot of the mountain. Our route takes us up the (in)famous Tentu Pass and around the mountain to attempt a summit on the south-west face.
To reach the summit, you will have to , over glaciers, around crevasses and up snow slopes at almost 50 degrees. The peak is mildly technical, but a tough proposition, guaranteed to test you mentally and physically. All-in-all, there are very few objective dangers along the route. Hanuman Tibba makes for a challenging climb and a perfect transition for regular high-altitude trekkers to basic technical mountaineering. Atop the summit (as well as from Tentu pass), you’ll be greeted with panoramic views of the Dhauladhar, Pir Panjal and Greater Himalayan ranges. On a clear day, you can look deep into the Chamba, Lahaul and Spiti valleys.
